Week 31

This week in sculpture we started a new project. For this project we were allowed to do anything we wanted. We decided to do a group project. For the project we made a beach scene. I made the lounge chairs and towels. I also made the texture on the beach with sandpaper. It was fun working on a group project! I am looking forward to finishing my pieces next week!

Week 30

This week in sculpture I continued to work on my bowl project. I finished writing all of the words and then went back over them to enhance the letters. I also wrote my name and the date on the back for when I give it to my dad.  I am really excited about this project and can't wait to see how it turns out! I am also looking forward to starting our last project for the year next week.

Week 29

This week in sculpture I continued to work on my bowl. I finished shaping the bowl and then had to wait for it to dry. After waiting for it to dry I was able to carve the words into it. I am writing a thank you to my dad in it. I am looking forward to finishing my project next week. Here is a picture of the words I am carving into the bowl:

This week in sculpture we started a new project. This project was to create a textured vessel. For my project I am caking a bowl and then carving text into it. This week I shaped the bowl and let it dry enough to carve into. Next week I will start to write the text. I am going to write a thank you note in the bowl for my dad. I am looking forward to continuing on this project next week!

Week 27

This week in sculpture, I finished my latern project. I had some trouble with my project this week and ended up having to basically start over. I created the base wit waves as the stand. Then I created four triangles shapes to represent sails. I then had to wait for the base to become more solid so I could stand it up. Then, I added the sail pieces. I twisted the sails to a center point to create movement throughout the piece. Then to add some negative space I cut out pieces in the sail that flowed with the pattern. I am looking forward to starting a new project next week!

Week 26

This week in sculpture I continued to work on my Japanese lantern project. I finished the base with the rudders connecting in a circle. Then I made three dock cleats that I will add to the lantern. I started to carve the sailboat out bit had some issues. I am bow going to try to make a few sails go around as the body of the lantern. I am looking forward to continuing this project next week!

Week 25

This week in sculpture I continued to work on my Japanese lantern project. I laser the body of the sculpture and started to make the base. To create negative space, and make it a freestanding piece, I decided to make legs. For the legs I made little rudders that will hold up the sculpture. I am looking forward to continuing this project next week!
